Lived in Baltimore a couple years but never came here before. The decor is amusing, quirky, and hilarious but honestly the food exceeded my expectations. Came an hour after opening when it was relatively quiet for lunch. I got a Wild West burger with fries (they were waffle fries) and the individual components were good and they also worked well together. Burger was well seasoned / flavorful. Very cheesy. Super crispy, plentiful bacon. Only wish there was more of the pickle / jalapeños which provided nice complexity to the burger. This was like a 9/10 burger which was a pleasant surprise. Waffle fries were solid/standard. Service was friendly.

We stopped into The Horse You Came In On Saloon twice during our Baltimore trip and it ended up being one of our favorite spots. First off, the history alone makes it worth a visit. This place is often credited as the oldest continuously operating bar in Baltimore, and you can feel that history the moment you walk in. That said, don't let the name or exterior fool you this is not a country bar. The first night we were there they were playing early 2000s emo, which was unexpected and amazing. The crushes are clearly the star here. I had a blackberry crush ($14) and I also tried the orange crushes ($12), which was really good and fresh. The only small downside was the blackberry seeds but that's kind of expected since they muddle real fruit. Just a personal texture thing, not a dealbreaker. I also grabbed a t-shirt because the merch is genuinely cool. Shirts were $28 for a short-sleeve tee, which seems reasonable for a historic spot and a solid souvenir. Food-wise: the first night (Tuesday) they didn't have food, but Wednesday they did. We ordered the cowboy fries as a small plate. The menu isn't huge more bar snacks than full meals but it worked perfectly for grazing and hanging out. The vibe is where this place really shines. Rustic, grungy, slightly outlaw cowboy energy with a twist. There's a motorcycle mounted on the wall, a small stage between the front and back areas, and way more space than you'd expect. The front bar is smaller and cozy; the back bar is massive with tables and booths spread throughout. It's the kind of place you accidentally spend five hours just talking, drinking, and existing. Overall, great drinks, cool people, killer atmosphere, and serious character. We had such a good time and will absolutely be back next time we're in Baltimore.

We arrived there at about 3 p.m. on a Friday before Father's Day and they were playing a band which is a good thing. But we're only serving drinks And only the left sidebar was open. So the service was poor and were easily ignored. So, we left for Azumi, and we arrived during happy hour which made their finger foods or appetizers at only half price; drinks were also discounted, too. Fantastic finish. 'The Horse' was only good for a photo ops.

My wife and I went here for the first time while visiting spots in Baltimore associated with Edgar Allen Poe. This place is advertised as one of his last stops before he mysteriously died and we visited here on the same day we visited the house he lived in for 2 years between 1833-35 and after visiting his grave site in Baltimore. While food and service were excellent, we were also excited to enjoy live music while we ate. This is a bar and is probably the reason for how dimly lit it was in places in the bar, but that's why I rated the atmosphere as 4 stars. Regardless, we thoroughly enjoyed our wine, food and the time we visited and will definitely come back.

1st time checking out this historic bar in Fells Point. Walked in early afternoon on a Friday. Seemed like a cool spot with some live music playing and had some Olympic coverage on one of the TVs. Ordered a beer and asked to put the US Men's Hockey semifinal game on. Bartender said they only sports they normally show are Ravens or Orioles games on and he wouldn't change it even though he said multiple other people had asked for the hockey game. Had planned to stay for multiple drinks and watch some hockey, but ended up closing out after one and going over to Max's Taproom which has way better beer and had the game on. I get you have your policies and what not, but maybe read the room when there are like 10-15 people in the bar on a Fri afternoon and multiple people wanting to watch a US Team in the Olympics playing to advance to a gold medal game. You definitely lost some business today.
