Very sweet and small museum. They have an impressive collection and know so much history. My kids enjoyed it on a rainy day with story time (free book included!).

This museum is about a 10 minutes' drive from Yale University. Being a public transit fanatic from Toronto, Canada, I was surprised to see an old Toronto streetcar in its collection when I visited. One day, I'll bring my young daughter down to East Haven, CT to visit this museum to go on the trolley ride again.

We always have so much fun here. The volunteers are so knowledgeable about the history of the railway and are so kind and good with the kids. It’s way less crowded and less hectic than another similar place in ct and we just love it. The trolly hugs the Branford/east haven coast so the ride is beautiful and you get to walk outside and go to the trolly yard and walk in all the old trolleys. Love this place.

Everyone has a birthday, so consider The Shoreline Trolley Museum for your kids… OR YOURSELF! I have been throwing myself unusual parties for the last 29 years. After a while, you run out of ideas, but once I learned that The Shoreline Trolley Museum is available for parties, I knew this was the place to usher in my 59th year! The staff was so accommodating. They advised me that members get a really good discount so it pays to become a member. The birthday car #1602 has a concrete floor so eating and drinking (adult beverages or soft drinks) on board is encouraged and welcomed. The staff even helped me with some recommendations of nearby places that would be good for the food I wanted. I provided items (like shrimp cocktail and birthday cake) and I had sandwiches, wings and stuffed breads catered. Between the rental of the trolley AND THE FOOD it cost me about $10 per person and everyone had a blast! We really enjoyed the contents of the museum before the ride. John and Austin were our amazing conductors. They were so knowledgeable. Once we were parked in the yard, John had wonderful information and stories to tell. We were able to ask any question and he had no problem providing the answer. We then toured all the other beautiful cars that were on display in the barns including subway car from 9/11. My friends are still texting me days later letting me know how much fun they had. They celebrated their 125th year of being the oldest continually operated suburban trolley line in the USA,so it was nice to not be the OLDEST thing at my birthday party! Thank you, Shoreline Trolley Museum for making this birthday so extra special. PS. They seem to have a lot events going on throughout the year, so if you just plan on going for a regular trolley ride, you may want to purchase your tickets in advance. Of course, renting out the trolley eliminates all that! Also my only regret??? Not taking enough pictures.

Such a fun outing. The model train set is so cool. My kids were mesmerized by it. The trolley ride was a nice use of time, seeing Mr & Mrs Clause was an unexpected treat. My 10yr old enjoyed the scavenger hunt.
