About Missouri State Penitentiary
The Missouri State Penitentiary (MSP), once the oldest continually operating prison west of the Mississippi, operated for 168 years until its decommissioning in 2004. It now functions as a historic landmark offering history and ghost tours that explore former cellblocks, the upper courtyard, and the gas chamber.
