My husband and I recently stayed at Landoll’s Mohican Castle, and there’s no denying the setting is absolutely stunning. The grounds are truly gorgeous—peaceful, scenic, and genuinely unique. It has that tucked-away, storybook feel that makes you slow down and take it all in. If you’re looking for atmosphere and a memorable backdrop, this place delivers. That said, the experience doesn’t quite match the price point. We stayed in the Miller Room and it was very unique. For a stay that runs $500+ per night, there are some surprising gaps in basic amenities and overall upkeep. Our room, while charming in concept, showed noticeable wear and tear in places. Some elements felt dated, and a few simple expectations—like adequate bathroom counter space, shower shelves, and even basic items like hangers—were missing or insufficient. These aren’t luxury-level complaints; they’re baseline expectations at this price. The overall impression is that the property leans heavily on its uniqueness and setting, but could benefit from reinvestment in maintenance and guest experience details. With some updates and more attention to the small but important touches, it could truly live up to its potential. In short: Beautiful, memorable, and romantic—but not quite delivering the level of comfort and polish you’d expect for the cost.
