Photography – A lovely place for photography, with historic buildings, beautiful landscapes, and even a few birds to photograph. Maintenance – Everything was clean and well maintained. The staff were incredibly friendly, answered our questions, and kindly allowed us to enter part of the property to take a few photos even though we didn't have time for the full tour. Parking – Free parking is available, and there are outdoor picnic tables where you can sit and relax. Overall – The guided tour has an additional fee and takes about 1.5 hours, so we weren't able to do it this time, but we'll definitely be back. Even without the tour, it was a beautiful place to visit, enjoy the scenery, and take photos. 🌿📸✨

This is a living history plantation that was owned by the richest man in Colonial New York. There is a timed-entry guided tour where you visit the different building where someone describes what work was performed at that location. The staff is dressed in period costumes, but they're not reenactors. There is a mill with a working water wheel, Manor House, bread oven, and a Dutch barn. Learn how the enslaved staff milled the grain, placed it in wooden barrels, and then shipped it so it could be sold or traded for other commodities. They even demonstrate the milling process by starting the water wheel and running the mill stone to mill a small amount of grain. The other buildings have similar presentations. They have the own onsite parking lot, and it's just across from the Old Dutch Church and Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

I've been coming here since I was a kid on field trips and now as an adult we have joined historic hudson valley to support this great place. The grounds and the buildings are wonderfully cared for and the docents are wearing period dress and really know their history. The grist mill is amazing and the fact that is still operates is even more impressive. They run different programs through the year, admittedly some better than others. There are multiple buildings to tour and all are furnished with period items, some from the philipse family.

We visited the Manor on. Saturday for the Twilight Village Halloween show. It was fun but could’ve been better. A little expensive at $30 a person and then to buy food and drinks inside that were expensive too was a bit much. A can of cider poured in a cup was $14. Would have liked a couple more vendors. Only one food truck. We loved the fire dancers and the appearance of the horseman. I think the various costumed characters should have engaged the crowd more and even interactive performances would have been good. No cohesion . Lots of strange unrelated little improvs going on around that were a bit lame. There was a huge barn all lit with a fog machine and we thought oh boy what’s in there? Well nothing. At one point costumed characters started dancing with little kids. Seemed like they themselves weren’t sure what they should be doing. Everything was disorganized. A staff member or performer should have announced what would be happening in the barn so people know to wait for the show or leave. Overall was cute and fun but I saw lost opportunities to make it a great. Interesting bit of history that made me sad was that enslaved people worked at the mill when NY was Dutch.

The tour was very interesting; we loved learning a bit about the area's history. The staff was very friendly, and I bought the book about the Headless Horseman.
