I’ve seen the billboard for this place for years and had been wanting to go. We finally went this summer and were not disappointed. I thought I’d be the only one in my family that would enjoy it, but was pleasantly surprised. My husband and son loved it! They still talk about it now and can’t wait to go back. And if you have time, definitely get your lunch or supper at the Warden’s Table restaurant. It was great!

Love it, we will be back. The gift shop is nice, many, many t-shirts, the tasting was great. Food was good, fried pickles were great. The prison itself was overwhelming very creepy yet beautiful in its own way. I loved all the history and I'd love to do the paranormal tour someday because the whole place has a very creepy vibe to it, to actually think men were in those cells. Of course when we went it was rainy, foggy, a little windy

100% hands down recommend visiting Brushy. The new RV park that has been built is phenomenal. The owner Sam has put so much time and work into this place to make it an enjoyable place to visit and stay. We usually stay elsewhere but we decided to try it out and were not let down. We have decided to make Brushy our new spot to be a regular at. Sam and his employees are very friendly and welcoming along with helpful. If you are interested in visiting and staying here this is a hood spot for motorcycle rides and ATV/UTV trails. Everyone who stayed that had SXS’s were respectful to non riders, they kept the noise down to an idle and respected quiet hours. I cant say enough good things about this place. The foods amazing, the people are amazing and the RV park is amazing, clean, well kept easy to maneuver large rigs, large level concrete pads that you don't have to fight to level your camper on. Come visit, eat, and stay you wont regret it!!!

I've lived in TN my whole life and never visited. We just decided this morning let's go for it! 31$ for tickets is not a bad price. The gift shop/tasting area and restaurant are great. Friendly service. Good priced moonshine and other spirits. The food was exceptional and again, the prices were competitive. They give you more food than you can eat. More than we could anyway and we were hungry. Highly recommended! Next ill do a paranormal event here and I'll follow up!

This was a great excursion. The prison was built in the late 1800s and operated all the way up until 2009. It's located way up in the rural mountains of Tennessee. It's a beautiful ride just to get there. I did the self-guided tour which was great that you can go at your own pace. The exhibits are numbered and you can easily follow along with the self-guided audio tour. It was $31 and I wandered around for about 2 hours. I don't think they sell tickets online. They must be purchased at the door. I went on a Wednesday around 11am and it wasn't crowded at all. and...AND afterwards, they have a really cool gift shop and restaurant. The gift shop sells a wide selection of alcohol that is made right there at the distillery on the grounds of the old penitentiary. They even have a taste before you buy option...BONUS!! Super cool excursion for anyone that is interested in history, true crime, or unique attractions. Highly recommend a trip to the prison!
