The story

About Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Attractions

in is a sprawling Hudson Valley Halloween destination built around a theatrical haunted hayride and multiple attractions. The property’s woods, fields and structures allow the experience to unfold across a much larger setting than a conventional indoor haunt, with live actors, detailed environments, special effects and changing seasonal stories. The attraction has operated for decades and has become one of New York’s established Halloween traditions. The 2026 season opens September 26, and the property also schedules separate Children’s Days for younger visitors. Food, drinks and the Horseman’s Tavern help turn the visit into a full evening rather than a single haunted-house.

I had a really good time at Headless Horseman! 🎃 The experience was amazing — the haunted attractions and activities during the tour were super fun and well done. Everything felt very organized and detailed. It is a bit pricey, but overall totally worth it for the experience! 👻

The attraction delivered excellent visuals and a great vibe, kicking off strong with a cool hayride experience. The merch store was a highlight, offering well-designed shirts. However, the experience was significantly hampered by the continuous, single-file walkthrough, which killed the scare factor due to a complete lack of spacing between groups. The overly chatty narrator also distracted from the atmosphere. Given that we paid $240 for two VIP tickets during the first week of October 2025, the flash pass felt unnecessary, and the photo booth was drastically overpriced. Overall, strong aesthetics, but the execution of the scare experience needs serious work.

SO AWESOME!!!! I'm giving this 5 out of 5 only because I can't give it 100 out of 5, that's how great it is! Very highly recommended!! This was our 2nd year here and it was fantastic!! Great detail goes into every attraction. The scare factor is always lurking around every spooky corner. The hayride is awesome, the Headless Horseman rode up behind our hay ride. The corn maze leads you through many houses of horror. Loads of scares 😱 and loads of fun!!!! The Scream Pass is extra money, but it let's you jump ahead of the long lines, so worth it!!

Great place... Very scary came with a party of 18 and had a blast. Nikki, Cassidy and Aiden were very polite and friendly at the Deadly Donut shop where they have donuts for only $2. All in all I would recommend anyone to come down to the headless horseman hayride.

I enjoyed it for the most part. Only a few thing I had to say that I was disappointed about was: my family and I were in a line to go not sure at the moment. we already finished everything but we didn’t know it was the hayride again. After speaking with the character who didn’t break character, she pretty much said have you been here before and we said yeah we’re trying to find if this is the way to get out or another haunted attraction we missed. She was all like hang here and we shouldn’t have survived then like three people came, and they were all like telling us not to be in here so it kind of felt like we were getting in trouble(I could’ve sworn it said you can go to as many attractions as you want). I didn’t like we didn’t get to see whatever show it was almost 9 at night. We were already there since 6 and didn’t want to sit around and wait for another 45 minutes. Also wasn’t able to see the headless horseman. He was the main reason why I drove 3 hrs and I couldn’t even get a picture with him But during the hayride he was there, but we cannot take video or picture during the hayride. 2 of the attractions were very smoky. It was hard to breathe and absolutely hard to see.
