Midwest Mom - Miles & Mayhem

We booked a tour with Ghostly Images of Gettysburg mostly because the person I’m traveling with wanted to go. I tagged along expecting it to be cheesy, touristy, overdramatic… honestly, I just went to appease my partner. Our guide, Chrissy (I’m sorry if I spelled that wrong), was incredible. She never tried to “sell” anything. No dramatic theatrics. No forcing reactions. She told the stories with so much passion, emotion, and respect that you could feel the weight of the history in every room we walked through. I went because I love history. Standing where so many people suffered changes something in you. Hearing the stories of the orphanage was what I really wanted out of the experience. I have never believed in ghosts. Ever. Spirit stuff, paranormal things… I’ve always been the “there’s a logical explanation for everything” person. Lights flickering? Old wiring. People seeing things in photos? Reflections. Strange noises? Old buildings settling. That’s always been me. But tonight? Tonight genuinely shook me. We were sitting in the basement listening to the stories when I felt tugging near my scalp. My hair was in a ponytail, so I immediately assumed it was catching on the rock wall behind me. I adjusted it and took my hair down. A few minutes later, I felt it again. This time with my hair fully down. At that point I got annoyed because I figured it HAD to still be brushing the wall somehow, so I pulled my hair up into a really tight bun and physically moved myself to the very edge of the bench so there was absolutely no possible way my hair could touch the rocks anymore. Then it happened again. Every single hair on my body stood straight up. I can’t even explain the feeling. It was like static electricity mixed with panic and confusion. My stomach dropped instantly. My partner kept asking me if I was okay because apparently the look on my face completely changed. The woman next to me had an EMF reader. Every single time I felt the tugging on my hair, it would spike to the highest level. The second the tugging stopped, it dropped. Nothing… until I felt the pulling again and watched it immediately spike. I changed my hairstyle multiple times and it kept happening. I’m not someone who is vocal in group settings, so I kept it to myself. Meanwhile, a woman across the room was looking at her phone and every time she aimed the camera toward me she kept commenting to her husband about seeing orbs. Now listen… I’m still not sitting here saying, “I fully believe in ghosts now.” I honestly don’t know WHAT happened tonight. But I know what I felt. And I know I walked into that tour rolling my eyes internally and walked out questioning everything I thought I believed. Even after leaving, I couldn’t stop touching my hair or replaying it in my head trying to logically explain it. Whether you believe in paranormal experiences or not, this tour was genuinely one of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve ever had. The history, the storytelling, the atmosphere, the emotion — all of it was incredible. Chrissy absolutely made the experience. You could tell she genuinely cares about the stories she tells and the people experiencing them. If you’re in Gettysburg: do the tour. Even if you think it’s going to be corny. Especially if you think it’s going to be corny.
