About Fort Washita Historic Site
Built in 1842, Fort Washita was established to protect the Chickasaw and Choctaw Tribes. It served as a Confederate supply depot during the Civil War. The historic site is managed by the Chickasaw Nation, features ruins, restored structures, a cemetery, and is rumored to be haunted.
