The story
About Fort Jesup State Historic Site
Fort Jesup is a reminder of a young nation's growing pains and a relic of Louisiana's rich international heritage. The United States built the fort in 1822 after the territorial boundary between the U.S. and Mexico was fixed at the Sabine River. Today, the 22-acre site features a mature mixed pine-hardwood forest and a reconstructed officers' quarters housing visitor information and interpretive exhibits.
