Buy tickets online for $2 discount, college discount available. Street parking is available, plus paid lots. No dedicated eastern state parking lot. As a true crime junkie, 100% recommend the self guided tour. The audio is interesting, engaging, and well done (the narrators are great and add to the ambiance!). There are always staff nearby to answer your questions and they are knowledgeable! I did not get to hear every audio file, but I wish I did :(. The prison itself is eerie and fascinating. On a weekday afternoon, it was not busy and quiet. So my friends and I had time to fully immerse ourselves in the experience. Real people suffered here so it is important to keep in mind while inside. With the audio tour and observing your surroundings, you truly understand the terrors the prisoners experienced. Plus the detriments of solidarity confinement. I left with additional knowledge, empathy, and understanding after the tour.

Excellent experience. Tons of information and things to see. The workers randomly spread out makes it easy to get answers. There are air conditioned rooms to explore on the hotter days. It is quite a bit of walking if you see everything. It is cheaper to buy the tickets online.

Great Experience! We purchased tickets online and did the tour with the provided playback unit and earset. Some interesting facts come out of with Ben Franklin involved, why it came into being. A sobering view of seeing a cell and built in it, a cell from Guantanamo Bay, like Edgar Allen Poe could've written of it. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, clothes for the outside temperature as well. Have to the take the Halloween tour!

We finally went inside to take a tour today and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend for a day date. A great place for photography some really good restaurants nearby as well.

Pretty cool place. I like how they still let you see into places that arent cleaned up and still basically abandoned. Not noted but they do give military discount, on par with the student discount. Just need to ask
