I was so looking forward to visiting this park. They do not take my state park pass because it is an historic park so I paid the eight dollar entry, no problem When I got to the museum and gift store, which was my last stop, at 1 o’clock, they were closing for an hour even though the sign out front states open times without mentioning being closed. I was told that they’re shorthanded. When I mentioned that the kiosk person could have told me this during our little chat, especially since I arrived around noon, rather than saying well that’s a good idea. I was told condescendingly thank you for your patience. Had I been told about this closure I would’ve gone there first and not missed the one building I most wanted to visit. I watched the movie in the theater and thought it was old and tired. The three dollar booklet is well worth the price and provides a self guided tour. In preparing for this visit, I read information on the website and was a little worried about the 3 mile dirt road. I called and left a message and a ranger kindly called me back and assured me it would not be a problem and he was correct. Turn on your recirc on the dirt road because it’s very dusty.

This town is mind-blowing! I never imagined a Old West ghost town could be this well-preserved. With endless buildings spread across a vast area, there is so much to see. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time if you want to take it all in, but it’s totally worth every minute. This place is way more than just a recommendation—it’s a must-see!

Visited here in 2024 while on a family trip to Watsonville. It was a mission to get here but glad I did. I have an obsession with ghost towns and abandoned places. Love the history behind this place. Really enjoyed my short visit. I'll make my way back someday soon.

An absolute must-visit! Bodie State Historic Park is a breathtaking time capsule preserved in "arrested decay." Walking through the quiet, weathered streets and peering through the dusty windows of homes left exactly as they were is an unforgettable experience. The layer of history here is incredible, from its tragic 1859 discovery by founder Waterman S. Body to the eerie legends of the infamous Bodie Curse that still linger over the town. If you are planning a trip or want to see what park rangers and visitors encounter after dark in these haunted hills, check out the new mini-documentary by Beyond Nature 1980 on YouTube. Their latest video perfectly captures the mystery and raw adventure of this landmark!

This is a must see, like the town up and left and left their stuff there. Old gold mining town. Plan on spending the day checking out this old ghost town. They have bathrooms by the parking lot. Costs $8 per adult. They do take cards and cash. Bring a lunch or snacks. No onsite food service. It is a ghost town..lol So much history there and so much to see. If you’re a history buff bring your hiking boots or some comfortable shoes. Let the journey begin and take you through the past.
