It was great to see the interior of an actual WWII battleship. There was so much to see. One thing worth noting is that the ship is maintained mostly in its original state and doesn't appear to be modernized too much. This helped make the experience more authentic. You also have to be ready to climb step ladders to get up and down the upper and lower decks.

I've been to a fair few museum ships, and BB-55 definitely takes the cake. The tour guide, Hugh, made the entire tour feel alive. I swear I could hear sailors living on the ship, through a couple of bulkheads I passed. The ship is preserved fairly well, especially for it being funded by tourist dollars. Highly recommend this museum. Wonderful experience overall.

I was looking for recommendations on places to visit while I was in Wilmington, and the battleship was suggested by a tour boat I was on! I picked a pefect day, early in May before the crowded summer season! The museum was staffed with a wonderful collection of knowledgeable guides! I very much enjoyed walking all over the ship and going from high (bride) to low (motor n engine levels) and so many places in between! The elevated path around the ship was a very nice addition letting myself to see the ship from all over and not just on the ship. I was a very nice experience, and I definitely enjoyed my 5 hours touring the battle shop and reading all the various plaques! When in the area, definitely go and visit the battle ship!

This museum was amazing. We had so much fun exploring this ship. If you love military history, this is a must see location. The information boards give you a glimpse of the life of sailors aboard the ship. You could book a guided tour. The tour guides provide a lot of information! As a WW2 buff, it gives a new perspective of everyday life during that period of time. We got to experience just a glimpse of what our servicemen had experienced living in the battleship. There are a lot of stairs on the ship. They are small and steep. Dress accordingly and bring water. The lower decks can get warm during the summer time.

The Battleship North Carolina is an incredible experience and a must-see for anyone interested in U.S. history. The ship’s history is fascinating, and walking through the different areas gives you a true appreciation for the sailors who served aboard her. Be prepared to climb up and down ladders throughout the ship, and remember that it can get very hot inside, so bring water. Bathrooms are available and water is also for sale on board. Younger children will need extra assistance navigating the ship, but it’s a unique, hands-on history lesson that the whole family can enjoy!
