Our close friend introduced my wife and I to this theater about 2 years ago, and needless to say we have seen every movie we’ve wanted to at this place since. The theater is beautiful in the old section and the new modern section is perfect for those new releases. Now, let’s take a stroll back to the concession area… the food is well worth the comfortable prices. The popcorn here is a level above everywhere else too, i’m not sure what they do to it but it really has that pop. so yeah 5 out of 5 for sure, especially after the friendly, hardworking staff and skip.

Very nice historic theater in downtown Decatur! Popcorn is excellent. They have a good variety of snacks and the staff is always friendly and helpful. It has such a cool vibe, especially in the original screen room with all the historic detailing. The annex is also nice and well maintained. Be sure to patronize this Decatur gem.

I really enjoy the Avon Theatre. It's always clean and comfortable. Skip Houston always makes you feel welcomed. I have seen many great movies here, each time the atmosphere is happy and pleasing. Even when the movie isn't the best, it's still fun to get out and be with other people. This is still my favorite theater in Decatur. Always clean, friendly and welcoming. You need to experience the place if you haven't been in a while.

Without a doubt the best place to watch a movie in Decatur. Their concessions are very reasonable. You can still refill your popcorn for 50 cents. The marquee is very nostalgic. Some of the seats are in pretty poor shape but they are in the process of raising money to replace them. And rather than increasing their prices they are taking donations. I have to to say overall the place has been very well maintained over the last 100 + years. Theaters like these are dying off and often giving way to theaters owned by huge corporations. If you haven't watched a movie here, give it a shot. I promise you won't be disappointed.

This was our first time at the Avon and it was great! The popcorn was amazing, the theater was clean, tiny and didn't smell like dirty sweaty butt (if ya know what I mean). The staff were all friendly and welcoming! We will be going back for sure.
